F-16 FIGHTING FALCON (GENERAL DYNAMICS)
F-16 fighters originally purchased in Pakistan, 32 remain in service with 3 squadrons. Pakistan still ordered 71 F-16s, but supplies have been stopped by the United States since 1990. In early 1994, the Clinton administration began negotiations with Congress on a proposed one-off sale of F-16 fighters to Pakistan. The delivery of the aircraft will depend on Pakistan's specific commitments regarding its nuclear program, including a proven reduction in fissile material production. When Pakistan rejected the proposal, the Clinton administration proposed amendments to the Pressler Amendment in September 1995 to facilitate cooperation in Pakistan's territories, such as the fight against terrorism and the improvement of United States trade interests in Pakistan. The US will not supply the controversial F-16s or maintain an official military supply relationship with Pakistan, but the president has decided to sell the F-16s to other countries and return the revenue to Pakistan.
Pakistan could use F-16 bombers to drop nuclear weapons at targets captured by improvising the necessary electronic guidance, which is not part of these export models.
